Jessica Wildfire is right. Our way of life is in decline. We are going to hell in a hand basket, but more importantly what can we do about it?

What is the answer? How to respond in ways that will benefit each one of us? What can we do to mitigate this fall? How do we help ourselves, when Superman is not coming? and the government seems to do as much harm as good?

In the article entitled “We’re Living in the Age of Downward Mobility” Wildfire clearly outlines how she drew this conclusion. Here are the main points:

  • We can’t retire. The median retirement savings for retirement is around $60,000 for all adults
  • We can’t afford housing, internationally. The median cost has jumped to 3.7 times the average income.
  • College is not affordable or a decent investment in the future. Student debt only increases the burden on everyone.
  • Homeschooling is becoming the norm — school shootings were up to 25 in 2019, then dropped in 2020 thanks to Covid, and that is the tip of what is wrong with the educational system.

I agree with all of those findings.

The American Dream is dead.

We need a new one.
