Having served 20+ years as a stay-at-home caregiver and missing all that prime Social Security earnings, following my divorce, I needed to find a career.
I started re-doing a 5,000 sq. ft. house with no money. Shadowing professionals around Home Depot, I would politely corner them and ask for advice, which led me to replace a toilet, paint rooms, replace outlets, and sell that monstrosity.
In the process, a friend recommended trade school, since I found working with my hands empowering.
Two years later, I landed a position in aviation where I have been to this day, earning far more than I imagined possible.
I have broken the process into steps anyone can follow.
